Reports & exports
Two separate systems: narrative reports for people, and structured exports for spreadsheets.
Report types
From Reports → Generate, pick a project and suite(s), then a type:
| Type | Best for |
|---|---|
| Comprehensive | Full pass/fail breakdown across a suite or run. |
| Exploratory | Narrative summary of an unscripted testing session. |
| Regression | Before/after comparison across a re-run. |
| API Test | Request/response detail, suited to API Runner sessions. |
Each type has a customizable Report Template (owner-managed, one default per type) controlling which sections appear.
Delivery options
| Method | How it works |
|---|---|
| Download | Generates the report and downloads it as a PDF via the browser's print dialog. |
| Sends to a list of recipients through your workspace's configured SMTP (Settings → Email), with either an external link or a 72-hour auto-generated share link. | |
| Confluence export | Only shown once a Confluence/Jira site is connected. Renders the report as Confluence-compatible HTML and posts it as a page. |
Branding
Reports carry your workspace's branding (company name, logo, primary and secondary color, set in Settings → Branding) baked into the generated HTML. Anything you email, export, or download shows your logo, not TestCatalyst's.
The same branding also re-themes the in-app UI itself (colors only, not the report layout) for everyone in the workspace, computed with a legible-contrast check so text stays readable against your brand color.
Structured exports
Separate from narrative reports, for teams that need data in a specific spreadsheet shape:
- Google Sheets / Zoho Sheets: export a suite directly, via the respective integration.
- .xlsx export templates: upload your own spreadsheet format (one active template per type: Test Script or Bug Report) and exports fill it in, matching your existing format exactly instead of TestCatalyst's default layout.
History
Every generated report is recorded under the History tab on Reports: project, suites, type, delivery method and recipients, and share-link expiry.
